NEXT UP FOR WCW:  TAG TOURNEY

WCW has released a statement that after the King of The Ring brackets have been situated for the PPV in August, then brackets will be determined for the WCW Tag Team Titles.  "We've seen many guys battle the Hell-Raisers (Bill Goldberg & Steve Austin) for the NWA titles, but it's time for a team from WCW to have their own belts," WCW Vice President and GM James J. Dillon remarked.  There are several good teams inside WCW, and some interesting pairings that have won matches.  It should be interesting to see who the group comes up with in their tournament.

THE ENFORCER WINS WCW TITLE!!

Fans were shocked as "Enforcer" Arn Anderson upended The Rock to win the vacant WCW Heavyweight Title.  Arn seemed to dominate the younger Rock before finishing him off with a DDT.  "What you saw tonight was an exhibition of excellence," Arn stated after winning the title.  "It's what the Anderson name has stood for, it's what the name produces.  This title is the culmination of hard work and perserverence.  No amount of glitz and glamour can take the place of solid, bell-to-bell, mat wrestling.  Anyone back in that dressing room who doubted the 'Enforcer' couldn't reach the top of the mountain has just been proven wrong.  And to any nay-sayers, if you want to climb to the top of my mountain, it's a long steep climb, and an even longer fall."

What about Anderson's "Enforcers" tag partner Larry Zbyszko?  "Larry is a good solid singles wrestler.  He has the stuff to become a champion.  We will be the Enforcers again.  But for now, the show is mine to run, and I'll run it my own way."

BIG POPPA PETE REFUSES ANY MORE WCW MATCHES!

Global Wrestling Federation wrestler Big Poppa Pete, after harsh comments made after he and two other GWF performers made debut appearances on WCW Monday Nitro, has told WCW and NWA officials he has no interest to ever appear on Nitro or any other NWA-WCW related programs again.  "It's just not worth the trouble," Big Poppa remarked from his home in England.  "I beat Sabu, who was supposed to be one of the best in WCW, and it was too easy.  To me, WCW isn't worth the travel or trouble."

If he won't appear on WCW TV, then what does he have planned besides the GWF?  "I've got plenty to keep me busy without adding American promotions to it.  A friend called me, needing help, and I'm going to see about helping him."

IT'S GWF 3, WCW 0!

NWA president Harley Race expected wrestlers from the Global Wrestling Federation to put on a good show, working dark matches for WCW TV, but no one expected the three men from the British promotion to defeat their WCW opponents...all on the same night!!  Though their matches had no bearing on the Nitro broadcast, the wrestlers--Alex Stone, Big Poppa Pete and Christopher Dawkins made an impact on WCW with their abilities in the ring with Chris Jericho, Sabu and David Sammartino!

"THIS is the big time," asked a sarcastic Big Poppa following the show.  "I heard these WCW blokes were supposed to be good, and we beat them all!  I hope after this, we get some TV time so we can show what we can do against the rest of this lot!"

TV time isn't in the immediate plans for the GWF wrestlers, but it could become a reality should they continue to impress.

NEW HEAT MAIN EVENT ANNOUNCED

After what transpired on Nitro Monday, Marty Jannetty indeed asked former Rockers partner Shawn Michaels to team with him one more time and take on Too Cool in the Thursday Night Heat main event.  Michaels was non-committal about Jannetty's problems with Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor Monday night, but has obviously decided to join his former friend for this match.
